Nomore Zachary

Finally no more Zak! Even though it was very hard and long it taught me so many very valuable lessons about the work world and about college. Doing the portfolio training was so frustrating but gave me important information about blogs, cover letters, resumes, and thank you letters that really put you in front of everybody for an interview. Zak also elaborated on the different kinds on interviewers and what you should do in every situation. Overall i will be happy to be out of that but miss it at the same time.

Tuesdays Smh

Tuesday's are one of the longest days of the whole program. It is strenuous and sometimes frustrating. We recently had to finish up on blogs about resumes and cover letters for colleges and potential job opportunities . Even though we were doing 2 different blogs at one time it gave us experience on what cover letters and resume's really consist of. Resume's are hard because its a lot of stuff to elaborate on about your self and achievements to write down. A cover letter is like a quick summary about yourself and achievements of what you did throughout your life. A resume is just explaining and persuading a potential job or college to pick you over everybody else.

On THURSDAY we visited the farmers markets on Cecil B. Moore near the subway and i was just taking a few photo's of the various foods that they had to select from. We were outside asking them various questions like: where did they get they food from, how much did it cost, whats the procedure for getting the food, and how they maintain their food. It was a fun and exciting experience seeing where and how they get their food. Its a long and expensive process but it i guess it pays to get the best quality of food.

On FRIDAY our group went to fresh grocer taking pictures of all the fresh foods that are good for your health. Each person in my group had a specific topic for this activity, my topic was miscellaneous and that was to look up and research anything that wasn't related to food. Even though i didn't have to much to write about i took a lot of pictures Click Here

John St.

Former mayor John Street was here at Temple just addressing the bits program for the summer 2010. He came with a message of encouragement for everybody from young high school students to college students that are here in the program as well. It was a fun experience as well as educational. I learned a lot on where he came from and his struggle to make it to where he wanted to be and it gave a lot of encouragement seeing a fellow north Philadelphian make it successfully out of his situation. He left with a message "Evey man or woman that stops to throw rocks at barking dogs will never reach their destination", which means that you will never reach your goal if you constantly are caring about what other people are going to say. He had various games set up for the first ten kids to come up to the front of the room. The games were fun but they had a deep message to them, the message to one of the games that i remember that we as young adults have our head on straight but we are too easily distracted. Overall i really liked the meeting it taught me a valuable lesson

I didn't know it WAS SO MANY THINGS TO DO AT/FOR A INTERVIEW BUT YESTERDAY ZAK CLEARED ALL OF THAT UP FOR ME. HE ELABORATED ON THE THREE DIFFERENT KINDS OF INTERVIEWERS WHICH ARE GUT, BEHAVIORAL AND CONVERSATIONAL.

GUT INTERVIEWERS ARE THE ONES THAT REALLY LOOK AT YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION, SO YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR HAIR LOOKS GOOD, BREATH DOESN'T STINK, SHIRT TUCKED IN, PANTS PULLED UP, WEARING APPROPRIATE CLOTHING, AND MAKE SURE YOU DO EVERYTHING TO PUT YOURSELF AHEAD OF EVERYBODY ELSE.

BEHAVIORAL INTERVIEWERS ARE THE INTERVIEWERS THAT REALLY LOOK AT YOUR POSTURE DURING AN INTERVIEW AND WOULD FEEL U OUT AS SOON YOU WALK INTO THE ROOM.

CONVERSATIONAL INTERVIEWERS ARE THE INTERVIEWERS THAT WOULD TRY TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU AND TRY TO GET REALLY DEEP TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF PERSON YOU ARE AND WHAT KIND OF WORKER YOU ARE
